Championing Change in Rural Balochistan
The Welfare Association for New Generation (WANG), deeply invested in empowering communities, marked a significant presence in the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. This year, their focus was on the rural areas of Balochistan, Pakistan, through diverse initiatives under the Young Omang Project.
Adolescent Development Initiatives (ADI): A Beacon of Hope
WANG’s ADI is a culturally resonant program aimed at transforming the lives of adolescent girls in Balochistan. Inspired by the traditional role of elder sisters (‘ADI’), it seeks to make puberty an empowering journey rather than a burden. The vision is to provide a supportive network, akin to an elder sister, offering accessible information on reproductive health and connecting girls with professional services.
The Global Stand Against Gender-Based Violence
The 16 Days of Activism, from November 25 to December 10, is a global campaign to eradicate violence against women and girls. WANG, recognizing the unique challenges in Balochistan, particularly for rural women and youth, actively participated in this movement, integrating crucial aspects like climate change into their advocacy.
