Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme 2017-2018 Lasbela

Lasbela district of Balochistan is a backward and decades long conflict-affected province of the Pakistan, having the majority of the population falling under the poverty line. Where 25.02 million boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16 are not in school and have minimal access to formal education.


Pakistan Scottish scholarship Scheme launched specifically in order to create opportunities for school children to be able to pursue higher education the scheme has been initiated in response to the identified need of school children in the country who are deprived of the resources and opportunities to pursue and continue their education and as a consequence to enable them to contribute positively to their community and society.

Welfare Association for New Generation (WANG) with the partnership of British Council Pakistan and Scottish Government has been reaching to kids of Lasbela since last 3 years. Every year the Numbers of students are increasing we started with 40 students in first year and this year we reached to 128 in program’s 3rd year.

This year with the support of our friends we awarded the scholarship to 128 students from 22 different schools of Lasbela. Including 81 Girls and 47 boys from class 1 to 9.

 Through this scholarship we cover the complete expenses of the selected students, which includes Uniform, School shoes, Books, Stationary and Board Exam Fees.

Award Distribution Ceremony for Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme 2017/18 was held at Government Boys High School Notani. The ceremony was attended by awarded students, parents, teachers, notables of community representatives of government departments and civil society members.Students from near by schools performed tableau to welcome guests and entrained guest children coming from different schools. Speaking to the event speakers appreciated steps like Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme to motivate kids to continue their education.

In Districts like Lasbela where poverty is reason which become hurdle for many children to stop from learning in schools initiatives like PSSP is an opportunity to turn dreams into reality. We believe more such steps are needed to counter the out of school children problem in Balochistan.

 

No child should be left behind from an education.
